Today's walk report: 071313

Mostly pics, little babble...

 Male Blue Dasher, Pachydiplax longipennis.

Not a dragonfly. L.A. County Fire are some of the best people on the planet.

Mud dauber and a mosquito fish. I saw the mosquito fish make one lunge. Here it was inching closer but the wasp was savvy as it drank from the water's edge. I wouldn't have minded watching a contest.

Some squiggly stem from a water plant and it's dead flower. A reminder for me to look this up wondering how I missed the flower earlier. Unless that's not dead.

Remember the sacred lotus, Nelumbo nucifera, from last Sunday? This is all that's left of the flower, the pod. Still exquisite in its way.
