Today's walk report: 012619

Butterflies, hummingbirds and a dragonfly on a blustery day.

With gusts up to 25 mph some of the picture taking proved challenging. This was especially true in dealing with a pair of monarch butterflies on the way to the garden. I was only able to get decent pictures of the male. The flowers are Duranta erecta.

onto the garden...

Varigated meadowhawk dragonfly.

A female Anna's hummingbird...

and the male who was trying to court her...

Finally, we saw two members of the Condor Squadron once again. I didn't envy them flying is those crafts under such windy conditions.

  1. Gorgeous pics! I learned a lot about monarchs in Barbara Kingsolver’s novel “ Flight Behavior”. Do you have milkweed? I think that’s their main food.
